As the Wedding Ambassador for Canon in the United Kingdom, we take immense pride in our partnership with a true pioneer and leader in the world of professional photography equipment.
Being the most innovative and advanced supplier of professional cameras on the planet, Canon sets the standard for excellence and innovation in the industry.
Their unwavering dedication to quality and performance ensures that every shot we take is of the highest caliber, allowing us to bring your vision to life with stunning clarity and detail. With Canon by our side, we're able to push the limits of our creativity and deliver results that exceed expectations, time and time again.
I have always felt that balance must be preserved in anything we encounter that affects our lives, especially the things that we are actively involved in.
Photography has always been a true passion for me and as a vehicle for expression and interpretation of creative impulses. My journey has been organic and generally resistance free, thanks to those who have recognised my potential and talent, and those that nurtured this over the decades. Canon has been one of the biggest components of this as I grew with the brand from a young age, with my father's AE-1.
I recognise that this talent and compulsion to communicate through photography has been a privilege and this requires balance. I believe that as a Canon Ambassador I have the opportunity to give back not just to the brand that helped nurture my gift, but to the masses through Canon's channels and audience.
Canon has allowed me to reach adults and children through education in-person and digitally, so that I can help nurture their potential hopefully in a life-changing way as it was for me.
I am fortunate that whilst I have an artistic and conceptual nature, I have a technical and scientific mind that allows me to understand detail (both technical and creative) to best use the tools that Canon produce for us. This has always allowed me to communicate feedback to my friends and colleagues at Canon for research and development for future technologies and solutions; for example, when my Harrow Hill Showroom was visited by various engineers from Canon Inc. in 2018 to experience my workflow from Capture through Post Production to Print, and also to mastermind solutions for future models by understanding my camera craft.
Much of the items we discussed were subsequently incorporated into the EOS 1DX MkIII, EOS R5 and EOS R3. These processes also satisfy my desire and duty to work towards a common good, in this case to create solutions and ease for the photographic and creative community globally.
This role allows me to fuse my passions for technology and creativity and experiment with concepts such as Canons VR solutions and early adoption of new technologies. Whilst I formally trained as a Qualified Architect and subsequently left this industry, this education helped me to recognise my ability to view things macroscopically and microscopically simultaneously and therefore understand systems regardless of how conceptual they are. As a hybrid shooter, I have experimented with fusing photo and video into one with personal projects that are constantly developing (links in the portfolio section). This not only serves as a creative outlet, but a conceptual process that benefits technical progression in my view.
On a more philanthropic aspect, as I have been on this journey with Canon, I’m realising more and more the importance of our social responsibility as individuals, members of a creative collective and as a brand with the voice that we have, that we must focus energy onto the future generations. By this I feel that we must inspire thought, passion, and compassion so that they can recognise, accept, and celebrate their own abilities with eagerness and confidence to affect change for their future generations. This will directly benefit their mindset, their wellbeing, and their environment through a sense of purpose and direction. I have experienced this through the Canon YPP which was rewarding for me as well as for the young people involved, and I intend to play a more active role moving forward hopefully through the YPP and other platforms.
I have always been a champion of print and this has formed a huge part of my own business and in turn the legacy it provides for my clients and their future generations. We have all grown up with photos of family and friends that make up our personal values and history, and I am passionate about preserving this artform because legacy is our birth right. I believe I have been achieving this by working with the Print and LFP team at Canon and hope to create more experiences for the photographic & creative community in with Canon moving forward.
I have witnessed and felt my growth as an individual and as a part of the collective with my ambitions and purpose transitioning from something personal to something to benefit the larger whole.
Perhaps without realising, I have been embodying quite naturally the philosophy of Kyosei all along; and I hope to be able to amplify this moving forward.
