I love cars. My love for cars started when my brother took me to my first car show, 1987 Earl's Court Motor Fair, filled with rare, exotic cars, sparking something I believe was always there. In the early '80s, I would run around the house on Saturdays, imagining it was a race track. My dad would listen to the radio while Mum cooked in the kitchen, and I would do laps around the lounge, pretending my hands were the brake lights behind me.
Playing pretend cars in my living room is probably my first childhood memory.
I used to love "Knight Rider"—I was obsessed with it.
My brother, who studied aeronautics and was passionate about planes, wanted me to have my own hobby. He got me a car magazine and showed me my first F1 race. It didn't take much for me to catch the bug, and my love for cars has been a part of me ever since.
Cars make sense to me.
All the settings, technicalities, and instruction manuals just click. Engines are simple and logical, and I find them to be absolute things of beauty. I feel them, see them, and understand them. It's second nature—the moment I see a problem, I can diagnose it. I can't explain it; it comes naturally to me.
After my brother bought me "Fast Lane" magazine, I read it cover to cover. I immersed myself in road tests, motor shows, car tests, and the Turin Auto Show. I loved reading about innovations in F1 and rally cars, and that passion never faded. I still watch motorsports religiously and have been a devoted fan of Senna since my younger years, which only ignited my love for cars further.
Building car models with my cousins are some of the best memories of my life. There was an art to putting those models together, a love that has never waned.
Photographing cars brings me back to those cherished childhood memories and fills me with true happiness. Cars have always fascinated me as pieces of technology, to the point where I wrote my university thesis on why car design is superior to architecture and building design.
As a kid and even now, I used to religiously analyse each and every Formula 1 race, trying to figure out what could have been done better and what could have been optimised to make the car go faster.
I have a knack for convincing everyone I meet about the superiority of F1 over any other sport, as it truly is a masterpiece of technology merged with beauty, craft, and the immense skill of the drivers.
You will feel every inch of this passion during our shoot.
